The Families in Transition (FIT) webpage was developed to provide parents, students, staff, and the community with pertinent information regarding the services available through Hazelwood School District student services. The site provides information and procedures to ensure that our FIT students are given the opportunity of academic success.
Hazelwood School District policy and procedures will ensure that:
Homeless children and youths have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including a public preschool education, as provided to other children and youth.
Any requirements in laws, regulations, practices, or policies that may act as a barrier to the identification, enrollment, attendance, or success in school of homeless children and youths will be eliminated.
Eliminate potential barriers to identification, enrollment, attendance, and success in school may exist in local policies and procedures.
- How those barriers may be alleviated?
- What local educational agencies (LEAs or school districts) are required to do to uphold rights and ensure services for homeless children and youth?
All conversations with families should be kept confidential
