Matt Phillips, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
Mr. Matt Phillips has worked in public education for more than 27 years. He previously served as an area coordinator for the Special School District, and most recently, as building principal for Brown Elementary, a 2016 Exemplary Professional Learning Community. Mr. Phillips has been recognized by the Special School District with the Ambassador Award, as well as by Peabody Energy as a Leader in Education.
Mr. Phillips has a passion for serving students with special needs and those who are in need of support academically, socially and emotionally. He has served as a foster parent and advocate for students with special needs. He also serves his community through his work with Autism awareness and suicide prevention.
Mr. Phillips is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He has a bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a master’s and specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
