  • The Thematic Middle School Selective Enrollment Planning Committee's last meeting was held on November 14, 2018.

    A summary of the committee's work and the District Leadership Team's recommendations for application, admission criteria, and programming were presented to the Board of Education on November 27, 2018, during the school board meeting.  The complete report may be accessed by visiting "Board Docs" on the District's Homepage.

    A "Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs" document has been created and will be updated as needed.

     

    Background:

    In May 2018, Hazelwood's Board of Education approved the opening of a selective enrollment middle school for gifted and talented students. The school is being planned to open in the 2019-2020 school year with this current year serving as a planning year.

    Hazelwood School District formed a committee to research best practices to develop detailed options for curriculum, programming, and admission. The committee was made up of parents, educators, and curriculum and instruction department representatives.
