In accordance with Missouri law, the Hazelwood School District has established an emergency procedure in every school building. Each school principal has designated areas in the building that are best suited for the protection of students during emergencies.
In addition to 10 fire drills annually, the principal conducts four tornado drills, four earthquake drills, and four active Intruder drills (one police-led) during the school year. The drills simulate emergency procedures that would be implemented under such conditions. Each school maintains a record of the date and time of each emergency drill.
