Hello All,

I am Ms. Ward. I am a 9th-grade Communication Arts teacher at Hazelwood East High School. 

I graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelors Degree in English. I went on to work at a homeless shelter and worked in early childhood education for several years. I returned to school to earn my Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Lindenwood University. After time spent as a teaching assistant and youth development specialist at a private girls' home, I returned to public school as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional. I then decided to become a full-time teacher and returned to school at UMSL. I earned my Masters Degree in Education and teaching certification during the 2023-2024 school year. 

One of my goals this year is to inspire students to find their voices through writing.
