Ms. Amber Mitchell

Ms. Amber Mitchell is new to Hazelwood East this year and is currently serving as the College and Career Counselor and Counseling manager.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and two master’s degrees in Secondary School Counseling and Adult Higher Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has over 16 years of experience in implementing postsecondary programming and providing college and career readiness services to students and families in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Ms. Mitchell has a passion to work with students to help them develop their career direction and find their best post-secondary fit. She is committed to helping students navigate the process not only to but also through their post-secondary choice.

Ms. Mitchell is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri. She currently serves on the Missouri Association for College Admissions Counseling (MOACAC) Executive Board Committee as a Co-Chair for the Access, Inclusion, and Success Committee, and Delegate for the NACAC National Assembly. Also, she serves on the Steering Committee and Professional Development Committee for St. Louis Graduates. Additionally she serves on the Executive Board for the St. Louis HBCU Alumni Association and is a member of the Harvard Club of St. Louis Educational Disparities group.  In 2019 she was awarded the Counselor of the Year award from the St. Louis American Salute to Excellence in Education.
