Lawerence Shields is a proud alum of Hazelwood East High School. He has served a total of 16 years as an educator. After one year as a business teacher in the Wellston School District, he worked as a business teacher at Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood West for nine years as well as an assistant football coach and a head wrestling coach. He then transitioned into a leadership role at the Hazelwood Opportunity Center for two years. After leaving Hazelwood, Mr. Shields created and led alternative school programming for three years in Webster Groves School District. Most recently, he worked in the Jennings School District for one year as an Assistant Principal/Alternative School Administrator. Mr. Shields has been a tireless advocate for building supportive communities and was honored with the St. Louis American Salute to Excellence in Education Award in 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Fontbonne University and a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Educational Administration from Missouri Baptist University. 

Mr. Shields is honored and excited to return home to Hazelwood East High School to serve as an Assistant Principal for the class of 2029.
