Teacher Message:
Welcome to the 2024 - 2025 School Year at Southeast Middle School!
I am teaching Money 101, Stock Market, and History of St. Louis.
I believe my role in education is to spark curiosity and guide students to develop a love of life - long learning. William Butler Yeats eloquently articulated this belief stating that, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but rather the lighting of a fire."
Biography:
I am a life - long resident of Saint Louis. I have 4 sons, 1 granddaughter, and a fat, fluffy cat named Cricket. My passions are reading, drawing (flowers especially), eating, cooking, learning history and traveling. My favorite place in the world is Vermont a place where I hold the best memories of my childhood. Fresh peaches from Eckert's Farm and coffee are my favorite food and beverage items.
I have traveled to many countries in Europe - Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Austria. I have also been to Argentina, Chile, Morocco and Antarctica!! Traveling is the best form of education a person can obtain.
I gained my passion for history from listening to stories my father told me about his experiences and memories. My grandfather taught me the importance of studying history is so people do not repeat the same mistakes from the past again. Thus, my spark for learning history was ignited!
I earned by B.A. in History from the University of Richmond, Virginia and my M.A. in Special Reading from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. The best thing about teaching is that I have the opportunity to combine two of my loves - reading and history. I hope to inspire my students to remain curious and to never stop learning.
