Mr. Amaro
I'm Mr. Amaro, and I'm so excited to return to Hazelwood North Middle School as your teacher for Orchestra and Music Electives!
Music has been my passion since childhood. My musical career began in 4th grade, playing the saxophone in the school band -- one of the best decisions I ever made. This led to many pivotal moments in my life, which culminated in making a decision in 10th grade to become a music educator. Upon making that decision, I never once looked back.
I am an alumnus of the University of Missouri. During the 16 years following college, I owned and operated my own private music instruction studio, Amaro Studio Of Music -- providing individualized music instruction to students of all ages and all levels of experience, on a wide variety of instruments. In the late 90’s, I served as Band Director at Salem Lutheran School, where I initiated the band program for grades 4-8. My career in education has included being an Orchestra Teacher, Library Media Specialist, Elementary Music Teacher, and Elementary Interventionist, as well as classroom teacher for grades K, 1, and 4.
In addition to being an educator for over 20 years, I’ve maintained a parallel career in music performance as a drummer, lead vocalist, and guitarist. I’ve worked with some of the most notable music groups in the St. Louis area, playing music from practically every genre, including Rock, Country, Funk, Jazz, and Pop.
What I want you to know more than anything is that I am a full partner in your child’s educational experience here at HNMS. If there is anything I can do for you or your child, or if you ever would like to talk to me, I am available for you.
HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR!!! LET’S DO THIS!!!
