Mrs. Kiyona Cooper

Kiyona Cooper is a native of Chicago, Illinois where she began teaching high school English in 2001 with Chicago Public Schools. In 2011, she relocated to St. Louis and began teaching with Hazelwood School District. She served as a district wide substitute teacher for a portion of the 2011 school year. She was then hired at Central High. There, she taught English for 9 years and was a counselor for 4 years. She is now the 8th grade counselor at North Middle.  Mrs. Cooper earned both a bachelor of Arts in English with a Secondary Education Certification (2001) and a Master of Science in Education (2008) from Chicago State University.  She then graduated in 2016, with a Master of Education in Secondary School Counseling (K-12), from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). Mrs. Cooper takes pride in her 23 years in education because she has had the opportunity to teach and counsel some of the most intelligent and courageous students and work with some of the most dedicated and inspiring educators. She is excited about becoming a Panther and looks forward to working with all stakeholders to support North Middle's students.
