Welcome to Hazelwood Southeast Middle School! We are going to have a great year together. This year, we will explore reading genres, refine reading strategies, evaluate text, determine the author’s purpose, experiment with writing styles, and establish voice through discussion.

Biography:

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and I am a proud graduate of Sumner High School. After high school, I attended Forest Park Community College where I received my Associate's Degree in Journalism. Then I studied at Harris Stowe State University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After tutoring at the Greater Girls and Boy Club, volunteering for Junior Achievement, and working 26 years at Bank of America, I decided to pursue a career in education. I enrolled at Webster University where I received a Masters in Reading and a Master’s in Education.

I have taught a wide variety of grades in middle school, but there is something very special about middle school. I teach 7th-grade English Language Arts, and I love it. I especially enjoy working with my students on the academic writing they will be asked to do when they enter high school. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, reading, and cooking.
