Volunteer: Start Here!
Step 1- Fill out the district volunteer application and and background check form. This can be downloaded from HERE. Or you can pick-up a paper copy in the McNair main office.
Step 2- Return the completed application and background check form either to the McNair main office or the district office. Note: If you follow the option to do portions of the process online, there is a much quicker turn-around on getting the clearance.
Step 3- In the meantime, let's start a conversation about what you're interested in doing as a volunteer (call or fill out THIS SURVEY). See the some opportunity highlights on the other side of this page or we can create a custom experience based on your ideas and/or our needs.
Step 4- You will get a clearance letter in the mail from the state when background check is complete. Bring it to the district office to turn it in and also get a Volunteer photo ID badge.
Step 5- Let us know you have your badge and let's schedule you for helping out with something!

Opportunity Highlights
Classroom Helper/Parties/Field trips– These jobs are an excellent way to contribute either regularly or on special occasions. Contact your child's teacher for possibilities or dates.
Academic Tutoring– Find a place to make a real learning impact with students who need an extra push to fill in the gaps. We’ll give you specific directions on how-to make it successful and figure out a schedule that works for you.
Rewards– Our students work hard, so it’s nice to celebrate/reward them once in a while. Help host some of our special rewards like “fine dining” or computer lab reward. Without volunteers for these, it’s hard to accomplish.
PTA Special Events– McNair PTA pulls off some amazing events/tasks throughout the school-year to raise funds (book fair, carnival, other fundraisers, etc.) but also to enrich our school community. It takes many hours for the regulars to pull this off. Help lighten the load.
Oasis Tutoring– Academic Tutoring with a mentoring focus (volunteers over age 50). Special training and materials are provided at the district level.
Even More Opportunities– Mailings, Copy Room, Sorting/Organizing, Cafeteria (breakfast or lunch), Library/Art, Yearbook, Special Clubs, Career Day, Assemblies, Assembly/Special Events set-up/tear-down, Sound System, Photography, PTA Website, and on and on.
**If you think you’d like to help in some capacity and you’re not sure where to start, go ahead andlet our office know!
