Counselor Message:

"Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day" — Dalai Lama.

I am one of the school counselors here at Southeast Middle School (SEMS). I am here to support the students, parents, and staff with any challenges that may arise this school year.

If a student is struggling with emotions or academics, I am here to help them find the appropriate supports so they can continue to be successful here at SEMS. If parents have a concern, they can reach out to me by email or phone and I will be able to assist them with finding a solution, within my abilities.

As a counselor, I also complete scheduling and serve on several committees in our building that support the growth and development of the students.

Biography:

I completed my undergraduate degree at Greenville College in 2009 and started teaching at Hazelwood East Middle School. I transitioned to teaching elementary school at Glasgow Elementary and then Arrowpoint Elementary. Through my experience, I noticed a need for social emotional support in the classroom. I, then, enrolled in school to learn ways to help children work through their emotions. I obtained my Masters in Counseling in 2016 at University of Missouri - St. Louis, and I started providing therapy to school aged children in 2020. I transitioned to providing therapy for adoptive/foster families and adults in 2021. In 2023, I transitioned back to the school setting, here at Southeast Middle School as a counselor.

Hobbies/Leisure Activities: I enjoy relaxing on the beach or at home watching Netflix. I love dancing and singing. I volunteer coach dance for my hometown high school. I also enjoy gardening from time to time.
