Dr. Irma Moore attended Redan High School of Stone Mountain, GA and graduated from our very own Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis, MO. Irma Moore’s career started early in the banking industry. Her instant success in Banking launched her into an exciting young career. During college in Atlanta, GA, Irma served as a Division Staffer for SunTrust Bank of Atlanta, traveling throughout the region in various banking roles, including working with the marketing department. Irma Moore was awarded a scholarship from designer Emilio Pucci to attend American Intercontinental University in Buckhead, GA to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising (2001). Irma decided to pursue a career in education that would allow her time to spend summers and holidays with her family. 

Irma attended Harris-Stowe State University and later obtained a Bachelor's in Elementary Education (2007). While at university, Irma worked as an assistant for Confluence Academy Walnut Park. She remained there through her student teaching.  Excited to return to her alma mater she joined the Hazelwood School District as a teacher at Arrowpoint Elementary for the following six years. Irma later earned a Master’s in Education Administration from Lindenwood University (2009). Irma Moore was hired by St. Louis Public Schools, as an Instructional Coach for the Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics. Irma loved her role supporting te

achers to become experts in their craft. Dr. Moore was forced to use her talent in the role of Assistant Principal at Dewey International Studies School, where she remained there for several years. During her tenure, she pursued a doctoral degree from Maryville University in Educational Leadership (2017).

Eager to put her research into practice, Dr. Irma Moore returned to Hazelwood School District as Principal of East Middle School and now Hazelwood West Middle. She remains there today, advocating and fighting for academic excellence and student achievement. Dr. Moore has received numerous awards and accolades for her success as an educator. Dr. Irma Moore is a mentor to young mothers, women, and children as she believes that people have the power to do anything. Dr. Irma Moore is grateful for the women that have come before her and taught her what it is to be a lady of character, distinction, and grace. She loves her Hazelwood community, where she has been a resident for over ten years. She has been a member of Metro Christian Worship Center for over thirty years. Dr. Irma Moore is married to Mr. Davis Moore, a successful entrepreneur. Together they love and care for their six children, Jasmine, Marcus, Brea-Dora, Lydia, Laura, and Elizabeth. Dr. Moore loves to paint, draw, sculpt, travel and she lives by Mahatma Gandhi’s quote, “Be the change you wish to see in this world.”
