• About Walker Elementary

    Walker Elementary is a PreK-5 school that services 535+ students from the Florissant area. Our demographic breakdown is about 65% African-American, 20% Caucasian, and students of middle-eastern, Hispanic and Asian descent.  

    School hours are 8:50 - 3:50. On early dismissal days, students are dismissed two hours early, at 1:50. Students are permitted in the building at 8:20 for breakfast. We offer free breakfast to all students.   

    We currently have 1 PreK, 5 Kindergarten, 4 First Grade, 4 Second Grade, 4 Third grade, 4 Fourth Grade, and 4 Fifth Grade classrooms. Students in K-2 learn all subjects in their home classroom. Third, Fourth and Fifth grade classrooms are departmentalized and students switch rooms for science, writing, social studies, and math. All students receive weekly instruction in the areas of art, music, PE, and library.  

    During the school year, various extracurricular activities are available: Makerspace, Girls on the Run, Student Council, Safety Patrol, Chorus, Kickball Team, Basketball Team, Soccer, Cheer Team, Chess Club, Checkers Club, Lego League and the Walker Running Club.
