HSD's Galactic Sew What Now Class Donates Blankets To Project Linus
Hazelwood School District’s Galactic Sew What Now class has completed their Donor’s Choose service project, creating blankets for trauma survivors. For several months, students passionately worked on sewing and making 30 blankets for kids who are seriously ill and experiencing trauma or needing comforting handmade blankets. Project Linus, a volunteer non-profit organization, aims to inspire people of any age to sew.
“The impact of the project that students created this year impressed me,” explained Rebecca Feazel, Galactic’s Sew What Now teacher. “We will find a way to continue supporting Project Linus throughout the years, and I hope that some of the students will continue to do so now that they have graduated from our Galactic program.”
“We are so excited to receive these beautiful blankets from Mrs. Feazel’s class,” expressed Project Linus St. Louis and St. Charles chapter assistant coordinator Joanne Cuddeback. “When kids make blankets for other kids, it is sweet. They know why they have picked this project and that it is going to someone who needs care and comfort. The fabric they picked out is so soft and cozy. It is such a pleasure to receive these blankets.”
The Hazelwood School District is proud of the Sew What Now class making blanket donations to Project Linus.
