The Hazelwood School District celebrated American Education Week November 13 - November 17. During the week, students, staff, and the community took the time to recognize and celebrate public education and honor the individuals who make a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.

Schools throughout the district participated in themed days, including dress as your favorite author, post-its for principals, wearing red for education, thank you notes for teachers, and school spirit day. 

The theme nationwide was “Together for Safe, Just and Equitable Schools,” which highlighted the importance of bringing together educators, parents, students, and community leaders in a unified effort to provide every child with a quality public education.

“Public schools are the cornerstone of our communities,” stated Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, Superintendent of the Hazelwood School District. “We welcome students of all backgrounds, abilities, and incomes. We each play a role in ensuring our schools are open to all. In Hazelwood School District, we pride ourselves on having a culture of high expectations and excellence for all students. I want to thank each of you for your work to ensure that Hazelwood School District educates each and every child who comes into our school buildings. Our schools couldn’t do all that we do without your support.”
