Hazelwood Students and Administrator Chosen as Finalists for 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratory Contest
Under the direction of Dr. Barbara K. Thompson and Dr. Rance Thomas, the North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU) announced the finalists in the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratory Contest. Thirteen North County students were selected as finalists, including four Hazelwood School District students and one administrator:
Chyna Hinson, Larimore Elementary School
Skye Harris, Arrowpoint Elementary School
Jamie Climaco, Hazelwood East Middle School
William Doss II, Hazelwood West High School
Kimberly Hill Burroughs, Instructional Specialist, Larimore Elementary School
Five winners will be chosen from among the 13 finalists by a panel of judges, and each will receive a $100 prize. The winners will present their oratories at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration at 6 p.m. in the Terry M. Fischer Theatre at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019. The public is invited to the celebration.
