Two Hazelwood Educators Awarded Excellence in Education Awards

Salute

The St. Louis American Foundation recognized two Hazelwood School District (HSD) educators, Dr. Chauncey Granger and Dr. Tamara Wells, during the 2018 Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship and Awards Gala on September 29.

Dr. Granger was recently promoted to principal at Hazelwood East High School. He previously served as principal of Hazelwood Southeast Middle School. He was recognized for his innovative work with student achievement and commitment to increasing parent and community involvement. Dr. Granger’s outreach to families extends a willingness to schedule parent/teacher conferences at the student’s home if their parents can’t make it to the school.

Dr. Wells was recently promoted to a curriculum coach after serving as an instructional specialist at Twillman Elementary School. She oversees the educational programming of six middle schools and three high schools in the Hazelwood School District. She was recognized for empowering students to take an active role in their own learning.

The 2018 Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship and Awards Gala took place at the America’s Center in Downtown St. Louis. For more information about the awards and the gala event, you can visit http://www.stlamerican.com/salute_to_excellence/education_gala/.
