Students are you interested in possibly pursuing a career in law enforcement. Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming academy class on March 31st. You can also earn community service hours, as well. 

 

Applications will be available during all lunch periods.



If anyone is still interested in trying out for girls lacrosse you may come out on Monday, meet at Armstrong make sure you have your completed physical and annual forms turned in to the activities office. Looking for girls willing to learn the game and work hard.

Our Hazelwood West Hackathon team was awarded 2nd place and $5000 over the weekend at the World Wide Technology STEM Student Hackathon competition.  The team was made up of 10 students: Joseph Mugo, Connor Olds, Matthew Boyd, Corbin Masterson, Darius White, Aleksander Johnson, Brianna Roller, Anna Nguyen, Meagan Murray and Akruti Joshi.  They created a website for our school called wildcatsden.org  Go check it out!

 

Congratulations to the Slam Cats competition team for taking second place and advancing to the VerbQuake finals in their first competition this weekend!

Juniors, today is the last day to turn in the permission form to participate in the MCV vaccine clinic here at Hazelwood West High School.  Turn it into the nurses today!!

 

There will be a NHS meeting this afternoon, after school in the library.  This is for ALL members.  New members, please plan on staying about 15-20 minutes after the meeting ends.  If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Inman before school on Tuesday for the information you missed.

If there are any 11th grade students who are wanting to participate in the MCV immunization clinic in April, the nurses need you to return the completed permission form by today.  This form was given to you in December and also emailed to parents in December.  Just a reminder that you will not be able to start school next fall until you have this vaccination.  

 

Hey Wildcats the theater is looking for artwork for our spring musical. Artwork will be used for programs, posters, and tickets. If you are interested in more information is on the callboard near the theater. Artwork will be selected by Wednesday. All artwork can be turned into Mr.Anderson in room 148 or Mrs. Vishy in room 158.

National School Counseling Week 2019 is Feb. 3–7.  The week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Take a moment to thank your local school counselor(s).

 

SENIORS ONLY – Pictures for the yearbook will be taken on February 10th.  If you have not had your picture taken for the yearbook PLEASE sign up with Mrs. Hazley in the main office.

Hazelwood School District is paying for the administration of the ACT to eligible 11th grade students on February 25, 2020.  Hazelwood School District requires that 11th grade students must have 14 credits to be eligible to test for free on February 25th.   Students will test on February 25th during 1st, 2nd, and 3rd blocks only.  ACT requires that students complete the non-test portion or “pre administration” of the ACT test prior to the scheduled testing day.  This will be on February 12th. 1st block only.  Students must be in attendance both dates.  There will not be make-up testing.  Students do not need to register online for this test.


AM North County Tech Students will NOT miss Tech on February 12, 2020.  They will miss Tech on February 25, 2020 ONLY.  AM Tech students will report directly to the Counseling office from the AM Tech bus on February 12, 2020. They will complete the ACT pre-Administration at that time.

Attention Senior Athletes and Fine Arts Performers:

If you have been offered a scholarship or grant to continue your talents on the college level please bring a copy of that offer to Mrs. Chappelle's office ASAP.  The national signing ceremony will be February 5th and this information is needed for you to participate. All seniors in the National Honor Society must have the payment for NHS honor sashes in by this Friday, January 31.  This is the only order that will be placed.  See Mrs. Inman in Room 135 to turn in your payment. 

 

Get community service hours for volunteering for Special Olympics.  Committee Chair applications are due February 3rd, all other applications are due by February 28th.  Don't miss out on this great opportunity!  

 

Hazelwood School District is paying for the administration of the ACT to eligible 11th grade students on February 25, 2020.  Hazelwood School District requires that 11th grade students must have 14 credits to be eligible to test for free on February 25th.   Students will test on February 25th during 1st, 2nd, and 3rd blocks only.  ACT requires that students complete the non-test portion or “pre administration” of the ACT test prior to the scheduled testing day.  This will be on February 12th. 1st block only.  Students must be in attendance both dates.  There will not be make-up testing.  Students do not need to register online for this test.


AM North County Tech Students will NOT miss Tech on February 12, 2020.  They will miss Tech on February 25, 2020 ONLY.  AM Tech students will report directly to the Counseling office from the AM Tech bus on February 12, 2020. They will complete the ACT pre-Administration at that time.

Just a reminder, if you are planning on attending the basketball games today and / or tomorrow, the games start at 4:30.  You must leave campus and may return starting at 4:00.  You should enter through door 25 and your current school ID must be presented.  The cost is $5 unless you have an activities pass on your ID.  

 

 Seniors that currently have a parking pass MUST reapply for a parking pass for 2nd Semester.  

 See Mrs. Wright in the 2nd level Principal's office for Parking Applications before school, during your lunchtime or after school.  

 

All Seniors must adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Seniors Must have 22 or more credits
  2. Must have a valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance
  3. No 10 day out of school suspensions for the 1st semester of 2019
  4. Currently maintaining 92% or better hourly attendance & all of 2nd semester (NO Exemptions)
  5. No parking violations for 1st semester
