REMINDER:  Seniors on Thursday during West time you will take your Panoramic picture.  If you want a copy of this picture they are $20.00 cash only and forms will be available at the time of the picture..  YOU MUST ORDER YOUR PICTURE ON THURSDAY – NO LATE DATES TO ORDER.

 

"The Key Club meeting after school today is being rescheduled for next Tuesday. Again, the Key Club meeting is rescheduled for after school next Tuesday.


Attention freshmen girls:  It is not too late to try out for basketball!  You do not need any previous experience, just a good attitude and a willingness to learn.  Please see Coach Russell in room 253 to find out more information.

 

You should only be staying after school with a supervising adult.  If you are not with a supervising adult you will be asked to leave the building.  

 

If you are trying out for basketball or wrestling you must have a physical and annual form on file or in hand to turn in.  If you do not have both of these forms, you will not be able to tryout so you should go home on your regular bus.  You will not be able to just hang out in the gym or the building

HWHS will host our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive starting November 4 through November 26, 2019.

Students can donate through West Time.  Please see your West time teacher for specific items needed. Please do not donate items that are not on the list.

You should only be staying after school with a supervising adult.  If you are not with a supervising adult you will be asked to leave the building.  

 

If you are trying out for basketball or wrestling you must have a physical and annual form on file or in hand to turn in.  If you do not have both of these forms, you will not be able to tryout so you should go home on your regular bus.  You will not be able to just hang out in the gym or the building

"Edwin Wangui and Jenna Foelsing both qualified for the Cross Country State Championships.  Edwin placed 17th and ran 16:57.  Jenna placed 26th and ran 21:05.  Congratulations to those two!  They run in the state championships this Saturday at Mizzou.

Announcement to be read on Monday a.m.

Attention Students Red Ribbon Week is this week.  Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs prevention awareness campaign  we are supporting this campaign at HWHS.  We will celebrate this program by having an announcement each day to raise awareness.  And Spirit days on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

Wednesday 10/30 – We are RED-E to say no to drugs and alcohol. Wear ALL RED! During Lunch pick up your Red Ribbon Outside the counselor office 

 

Thursday 10/31 – Say BOO to being unhealthy Wear Halloween Clothing (NO COSTUMES)

 

Day 1 -  Do Drugs and Alcohol permanently affect the brain?

Yes, the child’s brain develops until his/her twenties.  The earlier a youth begins drinking alcohol and abusing drugs, the greater the risk of changing the development of the brain and can result in irreversible change.



Congratulations to the cross country athletes who qualified for Sectionals this past weekend. Girls qualifiers are Jenna Foesling 16th place, Amanda Unverferth 29th place and Kristin Foesling 30th. Along with Edwin Wangui from our boys team with an 11th place finish and a time of 16:46.  

 

Race will be this Sat Nov 1st at at Parkway Central.

 

Congratulations to the Football Wildcts who are conference champions with an 8-1 record.

Great job!

 

There will be an informational meeting for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students interested in joining the National Honor Society on Tuesday, November 5 after school in Room 160 (the Band Room.)  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Inman in Room 135

Need help paying for college? Students should sign up with Mrs. Harris in the counseling office to receive information on the ROTC scholarship.  The meeting will be next Thursday, October 31st in the counseling office. Please sign up before Wednesday October 30th, seating is limited!

Workouts and open gym is canceled indefinitely for boys basketball.  Make sure you have a completed sports physical and an annual insurance packet turned in to our activities office before November 4th.

 

The Pridettes will be having winter tryouts Oct 29th - Oct 31st  and with final cuts on Nov 2nd.  Tryout packets are available in the activities office.  Must have a physical to tryout.

Want to earn community service hours?  Please join us for Peer Buddies in Room 133 after school this Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30.  Enjoy hanging out with other students and watching the Wildcats play.  To sign up see Ms. Bova in Rm. 133. If you would like pizza and soda, bring $5 no later than 7th hour on Wednesday.

The Technology Student Association meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 10/9/19 has been cancelled and moved next Tuesday, October 15, after school in Mr. Mendoza room.   If interested or question come see Mr. Mendoza in room 21.

Interested in attending the Michael McDonald and Brian Owens Concert at The Touhill Center on Sunday, Sept 29th? Ask your English Teacher for Details or see Mrs. Patterson in Room 266. This is a free concert for Hazelwood students that includes a meet and greet reception prior to the concert.  Forms must be turned in by this Friday.


Congratulations to the Lady Cat Tennis Team for defeating St. Charles High School 9-0. Varsity Singles winners were Shya Prescott, Kennady Carter, Chadsidi Darden, Angam Hamdan, Maddie Wahby, and Ayo Akinade. Double winners were Shya Prescott/Kennady Carter, Chadsidi Darden/Maddie Wahby, and Angam Hamdan/Ayo Akinade. Great job ladies!


Women of West and West Pride meetings are cancelled for this evening.  Check Google classroom for the next meeting details.


Tomorrow (WEDNESDAY) is the early bird day for homecoming tickets.  $10.00 for West students only and $20.00 for outsiders. Tickets sold during lunches only.  Don’t forget to pay your fines.


Slam Cats - we will be meeting after school on Thursday, September 19th, this week because of the 2 hour early release on Wednesday. Also, please make sure you check classroom to stay up-to-date on club announcements.


"Students participating in the Human Trafficking Awareness Poster Contest are invited to work on their posters Tuesday after school in Ms. Golby's room (257). Poster designs are due October 2nd by 3 p.m."

"On Friday, September 20th we will have our annual homecoming BBQ and evening pep rally from 6-8pm. There will be food, games, human foosball, a photo booth and DJ. Everything at the event is free but we ask that everyone brings in two canned good items for the local food pantry. Come on out and bring your family for a night of fun activities.  Let's get our wildcats pumped up to take on the Hazelwood Central Hawks for the homecoming football game on Saturday!


Do you like to help others and make a difference in the world? Key Club is a student-led organization that provides students opportunities for community service, building character and developing leadership. Please see Mrs. Hubecky in Room 102 for more information or attend our informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept 17th after school in Room 102.

"On Friday, September 20th we will have our annual homecoming BBQ and evening pep rally from 6-8pm. There will be food, games, human foosball, a photo booth and DJ. Everything at the event is free but we ask that everyone brings in two canned good items for the local food pantry. Come on out and bring your family for a night of fun activities.  Let's get our wildcats pumped up to take on the Hazelwood Central Hawks for the homecoming football game on Saturday!

 

Want to earn community service hours?  Please join us for Peer Buddies in Room 133 after school this Monday from 2:30 to 4:30.  Enjoy hanging out with other students and watching the Wildcats play.  To sign up see Ms. Bova in Rm. 133. If you would like pizza and soda, bring $5 no later than 3rd hour on Monday.

 


Do you like to help others and make a difference in the world? Key Club is a student-led organization that provides students opportunities for community service, building character and developing leadership. Please see Mrs. Hubecky in Room 102 for more information or attend our informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept 17th after school in Room 102.

It's time to apply for the Tri-M Music Honors Society! Tri-M is for any music student that has a 3.0 GPA, has a music class for at least a semester and maintains an A average in that music class. Applications can be found in your music room or you can visit Mrs. Schmiedeke in room 156. Applications must be turned in by Sept. 20. ALL current members need to reapply.

Gateway Readers Club with have it's kickoff informational meeting on Wednesday, September 11 after school in the library.  We will introduce this year's selections and give you a schedule of meetings.
