PAT PERSONAL VISITS:
Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a voluntary family education and support program for parents of young children. The program is based on the beliefs that parents are their children’s first and most influential teachers and that the early years lay the foundation for children’s success in school and life.
Personal visits are conducted in the home to build on the primary learning environment of the family. On each visit, parent educators focus their work with families on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being, ensuring that all the areas are addressed with families. Parent educators build and maintain positive relationships with families to guarantee that the visit is truly responsive to the family’s needs.
Hazelwood PAT utilizes the Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum.
