Degrees and Certifications:
University of Missouri Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education Emphasis in English Language Arts and Social Studies
Ms. Kristin Sibert
Welcome to 8th Grade English Language Arts! I am so delighted that your child is in my class this year.
First, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelors of Science in Education. This is my second year teaching at HNMS on the 8th grade floor. I am originally from Dallas, Texas and a huge fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and all things Texas! I moved to St. Louis after graduating and have loved getting to know the city and all of its' history.
Secondly, I find it essential to paint a picture of my teaching philosophy. I believe that all children have the capability to learn and I consider it my personal responsibiility to instill in children the passion for learning as well as the drive to be successful through strong relationships and student-conducted classrooms. I will assist my students in discovering who they are by allowing them to create and express their own opinions and ideas. I will teach to the needs of each individual child so that each student feels capable and can achieve. I will make their learning relevant to the world around them by incorporating integrated units and real-world themes that call on students to critically think and actively learn.
Third and lastly, we will be using a lot of technology to create dynamic projects that align with the curriculum as well as challenge the student's understandings of projects! We will be creating blogs, podcasts, online books, website, etc.
