Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

I am excited to share literacy with you and your children!

    A little about me….

    Education:

    • BSE in Elementary Education/NMSU/now Truman State University
    • MA in Library Science/ Lindenwood University

Formerly a classroom teacher, I am beginning my 16th year

as a school librarian, ten of those here at Jamestown

     Philosophy of Education:

I believe every child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which they can grow to reach their fullest potential.  It is my hope that I can guide them as they explore learning, share ideas, become effective users of information while fostering an appreciation for literature, and promote respect for all things and all people.

    Personal:

As a child, I loved reading books, often on my mother’s lap; but it was after I began teaching and became a parent that I discovered my passion for literacy.  It is immensely rewarding to watch a child finish a book and then share their enthusiasm about it with others. Leisure time includes family, friends, gardening, cooking, and of course,

    reading!

“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”
