Please note that 4th and 5th grade students will not have GALACTIC classes the week of September 28th-October 2nd to allow for district MO LEAP testing. Students in 1st-3rd will have GALACTIC classes as normally scheduled.
GALACTIC is Hazelwood’s elementary component of the gifted program which provides special services to students living in the Hazelwood School District at the Learning Center. Students who attend GALACTIC have been identified as gifted with state approved criteria. Students meet one day per week and receive at least 300 minutes of services.
GALACTIC’s Vision: GALACTIC will be an exemplary elementary gifted program fostering a community of learners who model excellence, integrity, and ever-evolving skills for the 21st century.
GALACTIC’s Mission: GALACTIC will advocate for gifted children and provide challenges appropriate to their academic, social and emotional needs.
Services are provided on the following schedule:
FIRST DAY OF CLASSES: The first day of classes for GALACTIC students will be Monday, August 31 and they will attend weekly on their school's scheduled day. Please see below.
During our district 100 percent virtual period of time (tentatively until Oct. 15), students will attend GALACTIC online one day per week. On this day, they will be logging into our Google Classrooms rather than their home elementary school's site. Here is the rotation we will be following for the first quarter. We will update this when it changes:
