West Community Credit Union recently partnered with Hazelwood School District elementary schools for its 5th Annual Art Contest, celebrating the creativity and compassion of student artists across the district.

Fourth and fifth grade students from Cold Water, McNair, Walker, and Lawson Elementary Schools created artwork inspired by this year’s theme, “What Would You Save For?” Their thoughtful pieces explored meaningful topics including helping those experiencing homelessness, supporting families, and finding cures for cancer.

All artwork was displayed at West Community Credit Union’s Florissant branch, where community members and families voted for their favorite entries. More than 70 guests attended a special pizza reception to honor the students and announce the winners.

The celebration included incoming Hazelwood School District Superintendent Dr. Bonita E. Jamison, HSD School Board Secretary Betsy Rachel, Mayor Tim Lowery and Laurie Lowery, Florissant City Council members Andrew Harris, Joe Eagan, and Paul Manganelli, as well as principals, teachers, families, and community supporters.

Each school winner received $50 to open a Kids Savings Account and a certificate, while all participating students received $10 and a certificate in recognition of their creativity and hard work.

Hazelwood School District thanks West Community Credit Union for continuing to invest in students and provide opportunities that encourage artistic expression, financial literacy, and community engagement.
