Hazelwood School District Welcomes Families at Back 2 School Fair

Hazelwood School District kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with a successful Back 2 School Fair on Saturday, August 8, at Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, and Hazelwood West High Schools.

The annual event brought students and families together with school staff, community partners, local vendors, and more. Families had the opportunity to access valuable community resources, enjoy student performances, connect with familiar faces, and receive free backpacks.

For new Superintendent Dr. Bonita Jamison, the fairs also provided an important opportunity to meet students, staff members, parents, vendors, and community members—many for the first time.

“Events like these are such a meaningful part of building strong relationships with our families and community,” said Dr. Jamison. “It’s so important that we create opportunities to listen, learn, and hear directly from the people who entrust us with their children. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with our families, have genuine conversations, share a few laughs, and simply get to know one another. Those authentic moments help us better understand and appreciate the people who make up our school community. Building those relationships is at the heart of what we do, and they are so important to supporting our students and helping them thrive.” 

The Back 2 School Fair reflects the district’s commitment to connecting with families, strengthening community partnerships, and creating welcoming opportunities for families to engage with their schools beyond the classroom.

Hazelwood School District extends its appreciation to the families, staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners whose support helped make the event a success and helped students begin the new school year prepared for success.
