Hazelwood School District’s  Student Services Department is committed to student success and well-being. Our mission is to create and maintain supportive and inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We provide comprehensive, coordinated services that address the whole child while working collaboratively to remove barriers to learning. Our goals include fostering student development from pre-k through graduation.  The Student Services Department is inclusive of school counselors, school social workers, home school communicators, school nurses, and the MTSS team.  

What We Do

Social-Emotional & Mental Health Support

Our team offers individual and small-group counseling, peer support programs, and mental health resources. We partner with community mental health providers and crisis services to ensure students in need of support receive immediate care. We also integrate social-emotional learning into the school community to build resilience and healthy relationships.

Health Services

School nurses provide preventive care, manage chronic health conditions, administer medications, and conduct health screenings. The health services division of Hazelwood School District promotes wellness by partnering with various community organizations to provide preventative care and resources. 

Special Education Services

In partnership with the Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County, our team ensures that students receive free, appropriate public education (FAPE), in the least restrictive environment (LRE). In collaboration with SSD, individualized education plans (IEPs) are developed and implemented to support student learning. 

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support ( MTSS)

The MTSS team implements, monitors, and refines interventions and support for students and schools throughout the district. Data-driven problem-solving is utilized to enhance student achievement and minimize behavioral concerns.
