Welcome to Hazelwood School District's Instructional Services Department. Our team works alongside teachers, instructional coaches, school leaders, and district stakeholders to support high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom. Through curriculum development, professional learning, assessment, resource selection, and data analysis, we strive to ensure that all students have access to engaging and rigorous learning experiences aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards. 

We believe that strong instructional systems are built through collaboration, continuous improvement, and a commitment to meeting the needs of every learner. In a culture of continuous improvement, we partner closely with schools across the district to provide the resources, guidance, and support necessary to help students achieve academic success and prepare for future opportunities.

What We Do:

The Instructional Services Department supports teaching and learning across the Hazelwood School District by:

• Developing, reviewing, and refining district curriculum to ensure alignment with Missouri Learning Standards and district priorities
• Partnering with teachers and curriculum committees to create/select instructional resources that support student learning and achievement
• Providing job-embedded professional learning for teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators
• Supporting school improvement efforts through classroom observations, data monitoring/analysis, instructional feedback, and collaborative problem-solving
• Coordinating district assessment systems and helping schools use student data to inform instructional decisions
• Facilitating Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on student outcomes, instructional best practices, and continuous improvement
• Training and supporting instructional coaches as they work alongside teachers to strengthen classroom instruction
• Collaborating with schools to identify effective strategies that address the diverse academic needs of students
• Evaluating instructional resources and working with educational partners to ensure teachers have access to high-quality materials
• Promoting equitable learning opportunities and instructional practices that help every student thrive
