Dear Hazelwood Parents & Guardians,

The Missouri SuN Bucks Program is a federal program to help families purchase nutritious food for their school-age children during the summer months of June, July, and August.

Families of students who meet the eligibility criteria below will receive a one-time $120 benefit per eligible student.

Please note that while the Hazelwood School District (HSD) provides free breakfast and lunch for all students during the school year, not all students meet the eligibility criteria for SuN Bucks.

Who is eligible?  Students who are enrolled in a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program (both offered by HSD) and who meet one of the following eligibility criteria for free or reduced meals:

Automatic Eligibility – Students who:

  • participate in SNAP/TANF
  • are in foster care, homeless, or a migrant
  • have active Medicaid coverage and live in a household with income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level
  • are enrolled in school and have an approved application for free or reduced price school meals for the 2025-2026 school year

If you have not completed a meal application, please visit the Eligibility Navigator to determine if your student is eligible to receive the benefit.

If the Eligibility Navigator determines your student is eligible to receive the benefit, you can apply online here.

Funds will be loaded onto an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card and mailed to the household address or loaded onto a SNAP household member’s card.  If the student is eligible and does not already have an EBT card, it will be mailed to the address in the student’s school file.

Please note: HSD does not process Sun Bucks applications and has no control over when the cards are mailed to your household.
