Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) Records Requests
The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice that provides compensation to certain individuals who developed qualifying illnesses after exposure to radiation connected to the nation’s nuclear weapons program.
Under the current law, some individuals may qualify based on having lived, worked, or attended school for at least two years in designated areas affected by Manhattan Project waste. Several qualifying ZIP codes are located in North St. Louis County. School attendance records may therefore help individuals document their presence in an eligible area. Department of Justice
