Sonja A. Stiles is a longtime Hazelwood School District resident, parent, community leader, and advocate for students and families. She has lived in the district since 1993 and is the proud mother of three adult children, all graduates of Hazelwood Central High School.
Sonja has served the district through PTA and PTSA organizations for years at several schools. She also held several leadership positions with the Hazelwood PTA Council, including Vice President, Secretary, Fundraising Chairperson, and longtime Scholarship Committee Chairperson, where she helped expand scholarship opportunities for Hazelwood graduating seniors.
Professionally, Sonja brings more than 30 years of leadership and management experience in telecommunications, engineering, and information technology. She currently serves as a Senior IT Project Manager with DIRECTV and previously held leadership and project management positions with AT&T and Southwestern Bell. Her experience includes strategic planning, budget management, project management, and leading cross-functional teams.
Sonja holds a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
Sonja is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, St. Louis Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter. She is also an Elder at Believers Temple Word Fellowship, where she serves in ministry and organizational leadership, and serves on the Board of Directors of BTWF Urban Initiative.
As a member of the Hazelwood School District Board of Education, Sonja is committed to student achievement, supporting teachers and staff, fiscal responsibility and accountability, and ensuring students have access to opportunities and resources to succeed. She believes strong schools are built through collaboration among the Board, administration, educators, families, students, and the community.
