Philosophy of Education

My role as an Art Educator is to foster and create an environment that nurtures creative expression and nurtures a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and identity. It is my personal belief that the best educators are those who care, love, guide, enrich, and facilitate the lives of their students. Learning is also universal and as a teacher, I believe that our education never ends and we are always learning something new to bring to our personal and professional lives.  As an Art Educator, my goals are centered around inspiring creativity, cultural appreciation, cultural learning, skill development, and holistic growth. I consider it my obligation and commitment to help all my students develop their intellectual, emotional, social, and physical potential in the art classroom.

Personal Statement

This is my first year teaching Elementary Art K through 5, and I have another four years of teaching experience in Early Childhood under my belt as well. I am originally from Los Angeles, California and this will be my sixth year here in St. Louis, Missouri.  As a third-generation Mexican-American, I value cultural diversity and believe that art is a universal language. I am excited to guide your child’s artistic journey at Jamestown Elementary, fostering creativity and a lifelong love for art.
