Stephen H. Lewis believes that excellent student outcomes begin with an environment that attracts the best teachers and staff.
A former high school science teacher, Stephen is currently a software engineer with Hunter Engineering. He has been an engineer, engineering manager, and product owner in defense, aerospace, and medical fields. He is a certified Project Management Professional and a Professional Scrum Product Owner. His work experience will translate into keeping the board focused on its goals and using metrics to evaluate progress.
Stephen has degrees in physics from the University of Texas at Austin and Washington University. He has two patents for medical devices and is a co-author of several scientific papers in ultrasound physics.
Stephen and his family have lived in the Hazelwood School district since 1994 and his daughters graduated from Central and West High Schools. A long-time PTA member, Stephen has volunteered in the district as a class parent and chaperon. He has built equipment for the West and Central bands and worked at many band and robotics competitions. He has volunteered as a soccer and volleyball coach and delivered many carloads of Girl Scout Cookies.
A long-time member of St Andrew UMC, Stephen has been a church musician, playing in multiple praise bands, managing sound and video ministry, and leading handbell choirs at multiple churches. He currently is a member of ReBELLion Handbell choir, and the Northwinds Concert band.
