Betsy Rachel is a stay-at-home mom who is actively engaged with Hazelwood School District. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from St. Louis University and her B.A. in Sociology from Maryville University. In addition, she maintains licensure by the State of Missouri as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Mrs. Rachel has several years of professional experience providing community-based social work services, assisting individuals throughout all of North St. Louis County to navigate through a multitude of challenging life circumstances.

Mrs. Rachel helped to form and served as a co-chair of the Parent Action Committee (PAC), advocating to ensure that the educational needs of students are the first priority in the Hazelwood School District. To that end, the group leads the charge in securing a State Audit of Hazelwood School District in response to an announcement from HSD leadership that budget cuts to field trips, elementary orchestra & band programs, P.E. instruction, and custodial services would ensue.

Mrs. Rachel volunteers regularly at her sons' school, Lusher Elementary. She attends field trips, helps with classroom parties and field day activities, monitors the "VIL" game room for the students selected as "Lynx Leaders" each week, and assists with the monthly "Surprise Friday" treat. In addition, she serves as the Box Tops 4 Education coordinator. She also serves as an "HSD Key Communicator" for the school. She helped to establish a food and clothing pantry at the school and has recently been working with other Lusher Elementary parents to get a new anti-bullying group established in which students are developed into peer defenders. This effort is still in the developmental stage, with hopes of being implemented in the 2018-19 school year. Mrs. Rachel was named Lusher Elementary's Volunteer of the Year for 2016-17.

Mrs. Rachel is married with two young sons. She and her husband are active members of Florissant Valley Christian Church where their family attends and serves regularly.
