Kimberly G. McKenzie serves as the director of communications and public relations for the Hazelwood School District. She has served in the education industry for seven years. Prior to this, she has had an extensive career in corporate America, in the financial services industry.
Mrs. McKenzie has held a number of positions with increased levels of responsibility during her time at Citigroup. She was responsible for internal and external communications, sharing the strategic vision of the organization, as well as employee engagement and community relations initiatives. She held several roles, Vice President of Public Relations and Communications for the Partnership Group; Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications for the Citi-Sears Business Cards Division; Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Community Strategic Initiatives for Diners Club North America; and Program Manager in the Office of the President and CEO, Diners Club North America. She received her bachelor of arts in organizational management from Concordia University. She earned her master of arts in management and leadership from Webster University.
Mrs. McKenzie is actively engaged in the community: Hazelwood Foundation advisory committee; Care to Learn Hazelwood advisory committee; Rotary Club of Florissant (former board member and program committee chairperson); Christian Hospital Legacy Dinner Committee; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., St. Louis Alumnae Chapter publicity chairperson; Greater North County Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education Committee, and she serves as a Girl Scouts Troop Leader. She is the former communications liaison for the Boy Scouts North Star District.
As Hazelwood School District’s director of communications and public relations, Mrs. McKenzie serves as a leadership cabinet-level member, reporting to the superintendent and deputy superintendent. She is also responsible for the following areas within the District: communications, public relations, marketing, district-level events, media relations, website, parent-school notification system, District videos, HSD-TV Charter Cable Channel 988 programming, Hero-volunteer program, and Print Shop management.
