Dr. Bruce Green has been an assistant superintendent for the Hazelwood School District since 2015. In his role, he serves as a leadership cabinet member where he oversees the district’s three high schools, technology, state-level data analysis and reporting, alternative education, and school safety. He has more than 18 years of educational experience working in various roles with increased levels of responsibility.
Prior to his promotion, he served as principal of Hazelwood Central High School. Before joining Hazelwood, Dr. Green served as the principal of Carnahan High School and as a mathematics teacher at Sumner High School, in the St. Louis Public School District. He also served as an adjunct instructor at Harris-Stowe State College.
Dr. Green earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University. He has a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education with a math option from Harris-Stowe State College.
His personality has aided his ability to successfully attract, guide and motivate students and staff to reach their highest potential. In so doing, Dr. Green has been and continues to be recognized for his accomplishments. Some of his accomplishments include a Ronald McNair Scholar, William L. Clay Scholar, and Pathways Teacher-Scholar.
He is a recipient of a 2010 St. Louis American Salute to Excellence in Education Award, a 2010 Pettus Foundation Excellence Award, and the 2011 Adelaide Schlafly Education Award. In 2014, Dr. Green was selected as Educator of the Year by the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority. In 2016, Harris Stowe State University presented Dr. Green with "Its Distinguished Alumna Award". In 2017, North County Incorporated honored Dr. Green among other young leaders, with a “Thirty in Their Thirties” Award.
