Central Cheerleaders Coach BES Cheer Squad

Fifty Barrington students tried out for the Cheer Squad. Cheer is a PAL's club. So many of our girls exhibited personality and potential. Unfortunately, we were unable to keep every student on the squad. We are proud of each student that tried out for the team!

With tryouts completed, the squad has begun to practice. Barrington PTA Board members, Mrs. Lacesha Jeffers and Mrs. Tanisha Grant sponsor and coach the BES Cheerleaders. The team is also coached by amazing Central High School Cheerleaders. Diamond Beckham is a sophomore in her second season of cheering for CHS, Ny'Asia James is a senior in her third season, Michael Hunter is a junior in his second season, and Angel Morton (not pictured) is a junior in her first year of cheering.. These  amazing students are volunteering their time to help our students to develop into future CHS cheerleaders!.

You can see the BES Cheer Squad perform in the CHS homecoming parade! on Saturday, October 5!

Tamia Coleman-Hawkins is an author and the founder/CEO of Mia’s Treats Delight, an online bakery that offers gourmet cookies, brownies, and cookie cakes.  Tamia began her school career as a wildcat at Walker Elementary while participating in the GALACTIC program from grades 1st through 5th.  She attended Hazelwood Northwest Middle and is now a junior at Hazelwood West High.

In the 3rd grade Tamia took an economics class, taught by Ms. Michelle Binuyo, where they were placed in groups and given the task of creating their own business. Tamia enjoyed it so much that she went home and told her mother that she wanted to start her own business that day instead of waiting until she was an adult. Once she decided that she wanted to start a bakery business, her mom took her to the store and purchased everything she needed to make homemade cupcakes.  Almost 8 years later, Tamia now specializes in gourmet cookies, brownies, and cookie cakes.  She has been featured on The TODAY Show, Southern Living magazine, and named one of TheROOTs Young Futurists of 2020.  Tamia is also a philanthropist and always gives back to her community in different ways. She currently has a partnership with The Covenant House, a local shelter, where she provides cookies and mini cookie cakes each month to every resident celebrating a birthday.

Since starting her business, Tamia has received an overwhelming amount of support from members of the HSD community whether it’s catering events, hosting cupcake decorating workshops, celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, or delivering sweet treats to different staff members.

In addition to being a gourmet baker, Tamia is now an author. Her first book, Mia Dreams Bigger, is tentatively scheduled to be released September 1. This book chronicles her inspriational story. Tamia is proud to be a part of the Hazelwood School District family and we are so very proud of her.!
