Dr. Tiffany Fane’s successful years with St. Louis Public Schools (2001-2004) laid the foundation for her teaching career. She joined the teaching staff at Kirby Middle School in the Hazelwood School District in August 2004, as a 7th-grade science teacher. Kirby Middle School underwent a name change in 2007 and became Hazelwood East Middle School. That year, Dr. Fane was named Hazelwood East Middle School’s first Teacher of the Year. Because Hazelwood East Middle School was designated a “Turnaround School” by the Missouri Department of Education in 2010, a minimum of 50% of the staff was mandated to be placed at other schools within the school district. Dr. Fane was among those who were chosen to continue making a difference in the lives of Hazelwood East Middle School students.
Dr. Fane immerses herself in professional development opportunities throughout the school year and her summer breaks. She serves as a Channel 9 Network Education Partner, member and conference attendee of the National Council for Educating Black Children Conference, and presenter for both state and national-level science conferences. Dr. Fane is a member of the Parent Teacher Student Association and an executive board member of the Hazelwood National Education Association. Other affiliations near and dear to Dr. Fane are the National Council of Negro Women, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Bethesda Temple Church of Alton. She is married to Minister Antonio Fane and has a cute Shih Tzu named Tre’.
