Teacher Message:

"If our children are to approve of themselves, they must see that we approve of ourselves." Maya Angelou

Hello! Welcome to Southeast Middle! I’m Ms. Evans and I teach 6th grade English Language Arts at Southeast Middle. My role is to provide each student with an educational experience designed to help them succeed. I will do this by creating engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that align with our curriculum standards and learning objectives, ensuring that each student receives a well-rounded education in ELA. Various teaching strategies and technologies will be employed to keep students engaged and motivated in their learning journey.

My goal is to help students develop strong reading comprehension and writing skills. We will explore various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama, and work on different types of writing, such as narrative and argumentative essays. I will focus on expanding students' vocabulary and reinforcing the rules of grammar to enhance their communication skills.

I am committed to creating a positive and respectful classroom environment where all students feel safe and encouraged to participate. Lessons and activities will be adapted to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.

I will also be incorporating (SEL) social emotional learning into the classroom. Integrating SEL into our ELA curriculum helps students develop crucial life skills that contribute to their overall success and well-being.

I also believe that parent involvement and support are crucial to a child's success. I encourage parents to stay engaged with their child's education by discussing what they are learning, encouraging reading at home, and communicating with teachers whenever there are questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a productive and enjoyable school year, filled with learning and growth for your child. Thank you for entrusting me with their education.

Biography:

Teaching has always been my passion, but it is a new career for me with just a couple of years under my belt. I spent over 20 years in a successful sales role selling cars and insurance. I have a BS in Business Management and a Masters in Human Resources Management. I have two adult children and I am a foster mom. I love children and when a child enters my life, I treat them as my own. I strive to be the teacher that children remember and have a positive impact on for a lifetime.
