Two Hazelwood School District middle schools will sponsor open houses to allow students and parents to tour the schools, visit classrooms, talk to teachers, administrators and more.
Hazelwood Southeast Middle’s Open House is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday August 30. Hazelwood West Middle has an open house for sixth-grade students only and their families from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, August 31. On Thursday, September 1, Hazelwood West Middle seventh- and eighth-grade students and their families can attend open house from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m.
Open House at Hazelwood Southeast Middle will include information on Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test results, Response to Intervention (RTI) and more. There will be a book fair for students to check out or buy age-appropriate books as well as information and activities on the school’s Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club and a new program, Parents Preparing Students for the Future, (PPSF).
At Hazelwood West Middle, there will be a book fair available for students to check out age-appropriate reading materials or for parents to purchase them and to support the school’s “Rock Star Reading” initiative. Parents and students in all grades may attend a special Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) presentation, starting at 7:30 p.m.
All District middle school students are expected to read for at least 30 minutes each evening.
