Grandparents, great uncles, great aunts and neighbors of Brown Elementary School students in the Hazelwood School District will have the opportunity to visit the school during its third annual “Near and Dear Day,” September 16.
The school believes that everyone in the student’s family and community bears responsibility for educating Brown Elementary School students. Furthermore, the school believes family members are the best teachers in the world and should be celebrated for all they do.
“Near and Dear Day will consist of a continental breakfast reception at 9:00 a.m. for our invited ‘buddies,’” said third-grade teacher Katie Kearney. “After breakfast, the ‘buddies’ will join their ‘near and dear’ student in classrooms for some special activities. We are also going to present the ‘buddies’ with an opportunity to volunteer to be a reading buddy at Brown during the school year.”
