Julia Robinson Thorpe, Assistant Superintendent

Thorpe, assistant superintendent for student services, has worked for the Hazelwood School District since 2004. She has been an educator for more than 25 years in roles as special education teacher, area coordinator, director and assistant superintendent. In her current role, she oversees special education, the counseling program, safety and security, social workers, nurses, the enrollment and registration process, as well as residency.
Thorpe is also involved in writing and securing grants for the District. The U.S. Department of Education recently selected HSD as the sole Missouri district to receive a $6 million grant over the next four years. The grant will be used to support efforts in creating safe learning environments that promote healthy childhood development, as well as preventing youth violence and drug use.
Thorpe received a Bachelor of Science Degree in communication disorders from Saint Louis University. She received a Master's Degree in educational administration from University of Missouri-Saint Louis.
